This directory favors evangelical and Reformed churches and ministries.

This page is an informational directory gathered from public sources. We are not attorneys, and nothing here is legal advice. We are not affiliated with any state corrections or parole agency, or with any church or ministry listed here, and a listing is not an endorsement or a promise of help. Rules, contacts, and programs change often, so please call and confirm before you rely on anything here. Where a page shows a Last verified date, that is when we last checked it. Always confirm details before you go.

How to use this page

Choose a state, then look for the nearest city or county. Churches are listed in two groups, explained below. Whichever group a church is in, begin with a phone call to the church office.

How churches are listed

Churches with a confirmed prison or jail ministry come first. Each one publishes its own work inside, such as visits, worship or Bible studies, letters, family support, or help coming home. Confessional Reformed churches are listed first within this group. Volunteer clearances and visiting rules change, so confirm them with the church and the facility before you go.

Other churches in the area come next. These are suggestions of a church in the area, not prison ministries. Reformed and Presbyterian congregations are listed first, then other evangelical churches, including Calvary Chapels. We do not list Pentecostal or charismatic churches. We have not confirmed that any of these churches has a prison or jail ministry, so please call first and ask whether they would welcome someone coming home from custody.

We aim to list a church in every county. Where we have not yet found one, the county says so. If a church may become part of someone’s release plan, check with the supervising officer first.
